About Simon d'Entremont
"Simon d’Entremont, who won in the riding of Argyle (NS) in 1836, was the first elected politician to a legislative assembly in the future Canada. Born at West Pubnico in 1788, he learned to write in French and English thanks to Jean‐Mandé Sigogne’s close mentorship. Although defeated in the 1840 elections, he remained a regional leader until his death in 1886, first as justice of the peace, then as customs officer." (Caron, Caroline-Isabelle. The Acadians. 2015. Pg. 17. Retrieved from https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/exploration-settlement/canad... 28 Oct 2019.)
