The first settler on Gladys Fork was Thomas McCartney in 1808. The next was Aaron McCord in 1820 - Aaron McCord on the extreme headwaters of one branch of Gladys Fork, and as his land ran over onto the McCord Run side, they named that stream McCord's Run. The next settler on "Gladys" was Joseph Bennett, a son of William Bennett Sr. in 1829.
