Enlisted in Company F, Ohio 11th Cavalry Regiment on 26 June 1863. Mustered out on 20 November 1865 at Fort Leavenworth, KS. From Official Roster of teh Soldiers of the State of Ohio.

According to Bill Simmons on 11/2/2015, the Carters owned a hotel in Georgetown. Also, Bill Watson used to haul lumber for Scotts Lumber and was allowed to keep the wagon and team of horses after work as a way to get back and forth to work. There is a picture of Bill Watson and Dan Moody with a team of horses and a wagon; perhaps that is the same wagon and team he used to haul lumber.
