"Death of Mrs. A. O. Myhre
This community was shocked Tuesday morning to hear that Mrs. A. O. Myhre, wife of one of the pioneer merchants of this city, had died on Monday [September 15, 1902] evening at the hospital in Minneapolis. She was taken sick with a hemorrhage while attending the state fair two weeks ago and was removed from the hotel to the hospital where she could get better treatment. Her sickness it was thought would be of only short duration and only a few days ago the family received word that she was improving rapidly. Mr. Myhre was with her all the time. Deceased was 66 years of age a the time of her death and a kindhearted and generous woman and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The remains will arrive this afternoon over the M. & St. L. and the funeral services will probably be held Thursday. The sympathy of this community is extended to the sorrowing family and friends. Dies at Minneapolis Hospital After a Short Illness
The sad intelligence reached this city Tuesday morning that Mrs. A. O. Myhre had died at Minneapolis Monday night after a short but severe illness.

Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Myhre went to the Minnesota state fair and it was there she was taken sick. At first it was not considered dangerous but the last few days marked a change for the worse.

Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Cox, Theodore Myhre and Carl Jeglum were at her side besides the faithful husband when the end came.

The remains will be brought to this city this afternoon and funeral services will be held either tomorrow or Friday depending upon the arrival of a son, O. G. Myhre, from New Mexico.

Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Myhre are old settlers of the county having moved to High Lake in the early days but later they moved to Lyle, Minnesota, and from there to Estherville in 1891. They have always been recognized as leading citizens on account of the Christina life which they have lived, and their honorable dealings with all. Mrs. Myhre was much beloved by her large circle of friends on account of her endearing ways and her readiness to assist in all Christian and charitable doings. She leaves a husband, two girls and two boys to mourn her loss. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, September 17, 1902)"

"Funeral of Mrs. Myhre
Many Pay Their Respects to the Loved One Departed
Followed by a large host of sorrowing relatives and friends the body of Mrs. A. O. Myhre was laid to rest Sunday in the Oak Hill cemetery. Services were held at the Lutheran church of which the deceased was a regular attendant. Rev. Thompson paid many loving and tender tributes to the dead. "Hers was an unselfish life; a life spent for others, ever zealously seeking to aid those in need to assist them both materially and with words of comfort. A life most beautifully exemplifying the teachings of her Master."

The pall bearers were Messrs. Whelan, Sondrol, Foote, Egbert, Helinson, and Letchford.
