She was the daughter of Ambrose Fish and Hannah Swift. [1]After her father's death her mother married Thomas Tobey, and Abiah and her sister Mehitabel later married Thomas's youngest sons Samuel and Gershom, who jointly inherited their father's farm, with explicit instructions on how to divide the house and barn between the two families.
Abiah married Samuel Tobey in Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts. They were the parents of ten children.[2]
In the 4 September 1737 will of Samuel Tobey, Abiah was named executor along with sons Jonathan and Eliakim. In the will Samuel gave "to Abiah my beloved wife ye one third of my estate both real and personal
