About Abigail Chadwell

Humphrey Wythe married Susan Pakeman (bap. Nacton 8 Mar 1597), daughter of Christopher Pakeman, on 8 April 1616 in Nacton, Suffolk, England and they had the following children in Suffolk, England:

The Will of Abigail (Wythe) (Jones) Chadwell

"The will of Abigail (Wythe) (Jones) Chadwell, daughter of Humphrey Wythe, assists in documenting the marriages of herself and some of her sisters. In her will, dated 8 June 1653 and proved 19 Jun 1683, 'Abigail Chadwell wife of Thomas Chadwell of Charlestowne' bequeathed to 'my husband Thomas Chadwell' moveables; to 'my sister Ann Pearson of Piscataq[ua]' clothing; to 'my grandson Joseph Goose upon condition of his performance of the covenant & agreement made between him & his sister Susanna Crosse bearing date July the twenty-eighth … 1682, I say I do give to him the one-half of my said estate I shall die seized of excepting my wearing linen all which I give to Susanna Cross, to which said Susanna Cross I do give the other half of my said estate …, yet this provided that if my said granddaughter Susanna Cross shall die childless that I give the half of what I give to her to my sister Wheeler's daughters equally betwixt them. Also I do hereby manifest it to be my true intent & will that if the said Joseph shall not keep and perform the said agreement … that his sister Susanna Cross shall have the other half my estate also that he should have had … And I do make my granddaughter Susanna Cross sole executrix to this my last will and do request my loving friends Mr. Samuel Phipps & Stephen Waters to be overseers' [MPR Case #4096].

This will provides important evidence for the conclusion that Abigail's younger sister Sarah married David Wheeler and her younger sister Anne married William Taylor and then George Pearson."[1]
