notes

When Isaac married Abigail Skidmore, Isaac was a widower, but the name of his first wife is unknown. It was Abigail's third marriage. Isaac married (3) Mary.

Isaac served as Constable, Assessor, Town Trustee, and was Town President 1746-1753. The Platt genealogy says that no will for Isaac is found, nor anything to show that he left descendants, but unidentified Platt children are found in the baptismal records 1723-1750. The Skidmore genealogy assigns him two sons by Abigail Skidmore, but makes no mention of children by his first wife.

From John Skidmore 1690-1758

His son Zophar Scidmore (who was left “all of my fast estate”) was the principal heir. There was no mention of David and Sarah (or their families) who had died before their father, or of his son Smith Scidmore who had probably already settled in New Jersey. His brother Joseph Scidmore and Jesse Platt were named executors, and the witnesses were Isaac Platt (his brother-in-law), Zophar Smith and Isaac Platt, Junior. The last two were nephews, sons of Abigail (Scidmore) Smith-Bailey-Platt. There is considerable evidence which suggests that John Scidmore had not presided over a happy household before his death.
