About Abigail Post

From WikiTree (Manager: Patricia Kent) - Resolve conflict - Her mother is Abigail (Clark) Loomis OR Abigail (Gilette) Loomis? Abigail Loomis was the daughter of Lieut. Joseph & Abigail (Clark) Loomis - she was baptized on 8 May 1745 in Lebanon, New London, CT

She married Jordan Post on May 29, 1766 in Hebron, Connecticut. She and her husband and all of their children moved to the Utica area around 1798 and then to Upper Canada around 1808.

Abigail died on 20 Jan 1820 in Trafalgar, Halton County, Ontario.

Daughter of Joseph Loomis and Abigail Clark

Jordan Post and his wife, Abigail Loomis and their adult children arrived in Ontario c1803-1805 with some settling in Etobicoke, others in Trafalgar Township, York or Highland Creek. Two of their children married children of Daniel Munn and Lydia Crompton. Following the deaths of their spouses, Jordan Post married Lydia Crompton, widow of Daniel Munn. All four are buried at Munn's Cemetery in unmarked graves.

The two families operated a number of early taverns in the area.

The children of Jordan Post and Abigail Loomis include Jordan, Abigail, Ezekiel, Henry, Ephraim, George Washington, Desdamona and Millicent. Information is skimpy for some of them.

It's hard to believe now but the enumeration of 1805 showed the town of York having a population of 473.
