Abigail Stearns

Biography

Abigail Read was born at Mendon, Massachusetts on March 15, 1717, daughter of Ebenezer and Sarah (Chapin) Read. [1]

In the administration of her father Ebenezer's estate Feb. 3, 1742/3, a division was approved by the heirs on May 13, 1743, and daughter Abigail Read was among those signing the agreement. The receipt of acceptance of her share was signed by Abigail Stearns and Thomas Stearns on November 5, 1744. [2]

She married, as his second wife, Thomas Stearns of Littleton, at Uxbridge, Massachusetts on April 28, 1743. [3] [2]

Abigail died sometime between October 1, 1749, the birth of her last child and September, 1750, when her husband Thomas was published to marry his third wife Mary (Barret) Emrry of Chelmsford. [2]

Ebenezer born January 28, 1743/4 at Littleton, Massachusetts; married Chole Wood at Uxbridge, intention published on Oct. 16, 1769. [3] [2]
John born at Littleton on June 2, 1745; married Martha Cleveland of Westford on March 3, 1773. Resided in Templeton. [2]
Josiah born at Littleton on July 18, 1747; may have married Mary Corey on March 6, 1749; resided at Lunenburg. [2]
Abigail born at Littleton on October 1, 1749; died there on October 25, 1749. [2]
