The story is that Abija Lee Rea was always called "boy" and he decided he wanted to have a real name. He asked his father and his was told to pick out a name and come back and we'd discuss it.

Abija decided on the name "Lee". When he told his dad, Theodore said," Perfect, we'll call you Abija Lee Rea. There are several different spellings that show up for the name Abija - with a J or with a G and with (or without) an H at the end.

I was also told that Omar and Ruth didn't have middle names. Ruth picked Gertrude and Omar picked Josiah.
