About Col. Abraham Bigelow

15591.8 Abraham 6 BIGELOW, son of William 5 ( Josiah 4, Thomas 3, Samuel 2, John1) and Hepsibah (RUSSELL) BIGELOW, was born 15 March 1788 at Natick, Middlesex county, MA. He was prominent in military circles and was a Colonel of a regiment of mounted militia. He was commander of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, 1827-28, and in that period invited Rev. John Pierpont to deliver the election sermon, which was famous as a protest against the military, and so offensive that the occasion was recorded in the company history. Abraham married, on 15 March 1814 Louisa Train (picture), daughter of Nahum and Louisa (Fiske) Train. She was born 06 June 1794 in Weston, MA. They lived in Natick, and he died there 16 October 1873, she on 23 December 1874.
