Abraham Brown, son of Nicholas, was born in the early Portsmouth Colony, Rhode Island. His birth year is uncertain. [1] In the 1650's the Quakers arrived in Rhode Island and Abraham Brown 'was listening' because he eventually adopts the life of the Quaker.
Records have been lost as the identity of Abraham Brown's first wife.
What is recorded is that he married 2nd Mary NN Brown. Mary and Abraham removed to Monmouth. From Monmouth they removed to Mansfield, Burlington Cty., Abraham and Mary Brown had the following known 8 children:
- Preserve who in 1710 removed from Chesterfield MM to Burlington MM and was father of Preserve (Jr.) (17) and who m. MARY FRENCH dau of Richard French of Burlington Cty.

In 1692 Abraham and Mary Brown were witnesses to the wedding of Abraham's son Abraham of Shrewsbury., who m. 1692, 29th of 7th mo., [in margin 4th of 12th mo., 1692], Leah Clayton, she of Middletown, on fifth day of week, at house of John Clayton." [2]
Abraham Brown died in 1714 in Mansfield, Burlington County, New Jersey. His Will is dated 10 May 1714 and was probated in Mansfield, Burlington, New Jersey. Children (of Abraham and Mary): Preserve; Nicholas; William; Caleb; Sara; Elizabeth; Abraham Jr,; grandson Thomas Potter."
Estate Value: "Real Estate in East Jersey; home farm, a lot in Burlington, personal property; Son Abraham (Jr.) Executor. Witnesses-Margaret Dosen; Naomi Norton; Richard Norton. "This Old Monmouth of Ours": pg.,206: Abraham's father Nicholas Brown was of Portsmouth, R.I. but removed to Monmouth County, New jersey, where he d. in 1694. His wife is believed to have been Francis, widow of Geo. Parker. In the early generations at least his descendants contributed notably to the upbuilding of both Monmouth and Burlington. Nicholas' children were:
