Abraham Ellingson Eastwold came from Norway to Lee County, Iowa about 1848. The family moved to Shelby Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota about 1855. In the 1850 census the name is spelled "Iswalt". In the 1857 Minnesota census it is "Estwold". The 1865 Minnesota census spells it "Estesvolt". The 1870 census lists it as "Easterwood". As you can see, his gravestone spells it Eastwold. Some of Abraham's descendants used "Eastwold" as their name, but most spelled it "Eastvold".
Abraham had eight children: Andries (1838-1842); Ole (1840-1841); Anna Olene (1842-1936); Andries (1844-1846); Andrew (1847-1920); Julianna (1850-1902); Alexander (1853-1937);
and Elizabeth (Cleopatra Elysianna), born 26 January 1855 in Iowa, married 8 November 1877 to Ole H. Torgerson. She lived in 1880 in Fossum Township, Polk County, Minnesota. She had two children, Lena born July 1880, and Elmer born 27 October 1884. She died circa 1885. [note: The name on her Marriage application is Elizabeth Eastwall. It is Cleopatra Elizabeth Anna Ostwold on her marriage license.]
