About Abraham Koop, Jr

In 1874 he emigrated with his family to Peabody (Gnadenau) Kansas. They sailed from Hamburg, Germany on the ship "City of Chester" and arrived in New York, USA, in August of 1874. The ship carried over 1100 passengers. Abraham Koop's name and family were listed 109. They passed through Ellis Island.

Koop, Abraham was born 22 October 1845 in Muensterberg, South Russia. On 8 October 1868 he married Cornelia Klippenstein. Abraham Koop emigrated in 1874, settling near Hillsboro, Kansas, where they were both baptized at Gnadenau, joining the Krimmer Mennonite Brethren. Koop was a miller in the village of hoffnungstal, operating a windmill. In 1891 Koop moved his family to Texas where his wife died 30 October 1902. On 2 June 1903 he married widow Maria Reimer from Jansen, Nebraska. Koop had ten children from the first marriage. Abraham Koop died 3 October 1928, at Corn, Oklahoma, having reached the age of 82 years, 11 months and 10 days.
