About Abraham Ber Ozaroff
from Gomel, Russia where the Nazi army stopped... it was in the Ukraine, but really part of Russia. Came to the United States in 1905 (according to census - see sources) with wife. Problem: Couldn't have been later than 1904 when Lila's father was born in the United States.
Ben was born in Russia - 1901. LIla's father was 1904.
In the U.S., he invested in property and opened up a restaurant in Ridgewood, Brooklyn.
Was first Ozaroff family member to come over - everyone else who came over used the name "Azaroff", but were estranged from our part of the family until about 1998 when someone called Lila. There was a 'reunion'.
From death certificate (in sources): Died in the Bronx at Montefiore Hopsital, 100 East Gun Hill Rd. Residence: 1943 68th st, Brooklyn (Bensenhurst). Died May 7, 1936 from "carcinoma of stomach" (stomach cancer). Was in US for 30 yrs at time of death. Father: Jacob Ozaroff, mother: Rose Schmidt. Informant: son.
