DNA NEWS FROM STECKLEY DNA research has made some interesting connections with the Group 30 Penningtons and the other Ashe Co. NC Penningtons.

There seems to be a genetic connection between the descendants of Micajah Pennington (Group 7) FaG 95553416, Abraham Pennington (Group 30) and Samuel Pennington (Group 12) FaG 90888232.

Unfortunately, we can only theorize as to what the connection is right now. One can only hope that we will find the true connection at some point.

In many ways, it is very easy to confuse the various Penningtons and what group that they belong with.

For example there are two Andrew Pennington's that have been confusing. It is easy to mistake the Andrew Pennington b. 1809 who married Hester Ann Blevins with the Andrew Pennington who was born 1813 and was married Mary Elizabeth Pope and Elizabeth Shephard. After all, they lived in the same general area Andrew b. 1809 in Abingdon, Washington Co., VA and Andrew b. 1813 in Laurel Bloomery, Johnson Co., TN. One lived on one side of the mountain in VA and the other in TN.

Then there is the persistent connection with the Blevins family. Of the six children attributed to Abram Pennington and Margery Lewis, three of them married children of Lydia Sizemore and James Blevins - in addition there are connections with all three groups of Ashe Co. NC Penningtons to the Blevins family.

Sometimes, it is difficult to piece together who belongs with who. If I have made mistakes in my conclusions, please let me know. For more information about this family, please contact Marye E. Steckley, who is the family group leader for Group 30.
