Our SV was born c 1654 and was baptised on 20 June 1754 at Criquetot-l'Esneval, Seine-Maritime, Haute-Normandie, France, according to Maurice Boucher, 'French Speakers at the Cape', University of South Africa, Pretoria, 1981 p 124.
According to Graham Botha, 'The French Refugees at the Cape', 2nd Ed 1921 p90: "Viviers. Abraham, Jacob, Pierre. Three brothers, who received assistance in 1690, farmers at Drakenstein. In 1695 the name of Pierre is found as having come from Normandy."
