  • 1841 marriage record
  • 1850 census: Abraham W., aged 37, in Lyme with family. Catherine is aged 33, ch. are: Charly W. (7), Elias G. (6), Mary F. (3), and John M. (9 mos). 'NOTE: I believe that Elias G. and Edward G. are the same. John M. does not appear again, but a John F. does; I conclude that John M. died young.
  • 1870 census: Abraham W., aged 57 with family in Old Lyme, Ct. Wife Catherine (50), ch: Edward G. (25), Mary (22), James M. (20), Kate (16), John F. (14), Herbert (11) and Jessie (6). All born in Conn. He is a Shoddy Manufacturer. 'Shoddy was a by-product of wool or re-use of wool fragments to make clothing, blankets, etc. They would recycle wool by tearing or cutting apart existing wool, sometimes combined with lower grade wools or cotton and respinning the resultant fibers. The end product, with shorter fibers, would make it less sturdy than the original.
