Source: Commemorative Biographical Record of NE Pennsylvania "When about ten years old he removed with his parents to Pike (then Bucks) county, Penn, where he remained. He was among the members received on confession in the old Machackemech Church (Dutch Reformed) on September 26, 1762 in the presence of Elders Aaron Vredenburgh and Philip Swartwout, and soon afterward he was made a deacon in that congregation, his name appearing as such on the records from 1762 to 1768."
