May 1st, 1761 Born in Amelia County, Virginia
1766 Family moved to Mecklenburg County, Virginia
1778 Joined revolutionary war at age 17 and marched to Stono River, near Charleston, South Carolina. Fought in the Siege of Charleston April 8 - May 12, 1780, under the command of Major General Benjamin Lincoln.
1780 Marched to Camden, (Pine Tree Store) South Carolina. There, under the command of General Horatio Gates, engaged the British under the command of General Cornwallis on Ausgust 16,1780. Was discharged and returned home.
1781 Called back into service and marched to near Norfolk, Virginia and was discharged again.
1782 Volunteered and marched near Little York, Virginia. Discharged after 24 days. Listed on Mecklenburg Co. census, page 34.
1789 Married Martha Wade January 22, 1789 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. Moved to Spartanburgh District, South Carolina during summer of 1789. Son William Wade Hastings was born 10/28/1789 in Spartanburgh District.
1790 Lived in Amelia Co, VA and is listed on the 1790 tax rolls.
1798 Son John Hastings born in Amelia Co, VA on 6/9/1798.
1810 Lived in Mecklenburg County, VA. ( per census)
1813 Moved back to Spartanburgh District, SC.
1828 Lived in Henry County, TN. ( per tax roll )
1830 Listed on the 1830 Census as living in Spartanburgh District.
1831 Absalom Hastin, Pvt., VA Militia, Annual Allowance $43.00, rec'd $107.50, effec. 8-27-1833, pension started 3-4-1831, age 72 when applied.
1835 Died July 29, 1835 in Enoree, Spartanburg County, SC Burial in Old Bethel Cemetery, Woodruff, SC.

Historical Register of Virginians in the Revolution, names include: Absalom Hastin, John Hastin in the 6th Continental Line, John Hasten in the 1st Continental Line, Thomas Hastens as Seamen in the Navy, and included on list of militia paid at Romney in 1775 (probably denotes late payment for colonial troops who immediately joined army of Revolution), John Hastings of Morgan's riflemen.
Will Abstract of Absalom Hastin: To wife Patty Hastin, land where I now live, after her death to be divided among my 8 children: William Hastin, Margaret Wade, Patsy Wofford, John Hastin, Absolem Hastin.
