ABOUT THE AUTHOR The son of an illustrious father, Dr. Lakshmipathi who was the acknowledged Pranacharya of Ayurveda, Sri Achanta Janaki Ram had his early training in the National University, whose Vice Chancellor at that time was Rabindranath Tagore.As a youth he came under the influence of Dr. Annie Besant and Dr James Cousins who bequeathed to him a spirit of discipline and a great love for art. Janaki Ram was one of the early architects of All India Radio which medium he used to great effect for the inculcation of Telugu culture in all its aspects. As a Special Officer of the Government of Andhra Pradesh for the Tagore Centenary Celebrations in 1961-62 he did yeoman service for spreading the message of the poet-saint. The three volumes of his autobiography Na Smruti Pathamlo and Sagutunna Yatra and his rendering into Telegu of Gitanjali and his original work Swarna Sita have established Janaki Ram as a writer of exceptional merit and an original and discriminating critic of Andhra Literature
