Adaline S Eddy

From Lake County History (1891): In the spring of 1848, the marriage of E. F. W. Eddy and Adeline Soper was celebrated. She is a native of Vermont, a daughter of R. E. Soper, one of the soldiers of the War of 1812, and came to Illinois in 1847. She began teaching school, making her home in the Eddy family. Her parents visited Illinois many times but died in Vermont.

Elijah and Adaline Eddy had the following children: Leondo; Purmillia A.; Celestia Soper, of Watertown, South Dakota.; Remember E., who married Viola Shumesiski; Sarah E.; and Addie E. Galloway, of Sheboygan Falls, Wis. The children received good educations and Addie E., after attending Waukegan High School, taught for several years. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ January 9, 1903 - Lake County Independent Register: Mrs. E.F. Eddy, aged 81 years, died at the family homestead in Newport township Tuesday, and with her death closes the career of one of Lake County's earliest settlers. Mrs. Eddy's husband purchased the homestead where they lived continuously since. He died less than a year ago. Mrs. Eddy has been blind for almost twenty years and bore her affliction with great patience and christian fortitude. She was a member of the Baptist church at Russell for many years. Her children are L.M. Eddy, Waukegan; R.E. Eddy, Newport; Lillian Eddy, Newport; Mrs. H.O. Soper, Dixon; Mrs. F.L. Malville, Rockford; Mrs. M.O. Galoway, Sheboygan, Wis.
