Adaline was first married on 31 Dec 1848 to Alexander Lorenzo Dow Gilmore, a casualty of the Civil War. Her second husband was Alexander Augustus Smith whom she married on 1 Sep 1864. Alexander Smith was first widowed from Lavinia Tarbutton, who was born 20 Apr 1826 on the Old Tarbutton Plantation and buried there in the family plot in June 1864.
