About Adam McKee
Adam is the son of Archibald McKee and his unknown wife. Adam was born about 1732 in either Scotland or more likely, Ireland. At some point he and his father immigrated to Williamsburg, SC. Adam later moved inland to Abbeville County, SC. He met and married Jean Dixon/Dickson, daughter of John and Prudence Dixon. The couple had 9 children: Michael, Margaret, Adam Jackson, Grissel, Eliezer, John, Jean, William Seth and Mary.
Adam served in the Revolutionary War and served with the Swamp Fox, Marion Francis, for a while. His house was burned by the Torries.
Adam was able to read and loved music, according to what he bought at estate auctions. He also helped in the forming of the Greenville Presbyterian Church in the area. His property is just a mile or two from the church.
Adam died about 1807 in Abbeville. He was buried on his property.
Many researchers have listed his middle name as Shark. This is INCORRECT. It comes from his will where it says mark.
