About Adam Levin von Witzleben, the younger
Adam Levin von Witzleben was born as son of Christoph Burckhard von Witzleben and his wife Anna Theresia von Dorgelo. After his school education, he joined the Danish army. On April 30, 1743, he was appointed Lieutenant at the Schleswig Regiment. On October 30th, 1745, he became the owner of Hude.
He acknowledged the military service and married Karoline von Sobbe on May 31, 1748. When Karoline Adams's mother was introduced, she said, impressed by her youth and beauty, "Adam, from what altars have you robbed these saints?"
Five sons and six daughters came from the marriage. Adam Levin had a long friendship with the Stadtsyndikus von Oldenburg, Anton Wilhelm von Halem. On 28 July 1748, he founded the Freemason lodge Abel, [1] the forerunner of the lodge to this day.
