24940-1. vi. Hon. Solomon Strong (son of Judge Simeon Strong of Amherst,'and Sarah Wright) b. March 2, 1780, m. at Athol, Mass., Nov. 20, 1803, Sally Sweetser b. at Leominister, Feb. 4, 1783. He was grad. at Williams Coll., in 1798, practised law at Royalston, Athol, Westminister and Leominster (1825-50): member of Congress (1815-19): member of the Mass., Legislature (1812, '13, '43 and '44) :Judge of the Circuit Court of Common Pleas (1818-21) for the western district of Mass. and (1821-42) of the Court of Common Pleas. He d. at Leominster, Mass., Sept. 16, 1850, from paralysis aged 70: she d. at Leominster, Dec 28, 1865. He was a public spirited man.

25026- 7. i. Adelia Strong b. at Westminster, Mass., Feb. 28, 1812, m. Nov. 6, 1832, at Leominster, Rev. William Matticks Rogers b. in the Island of Alderney, in the English Channel, Sept. 10, 1806. His father was an officer in the British Navy, and won a medal under Nelson at the battle of the Nile. His mother was a lady of fine intellect and devoted piety, a Wesleyan Methodist. He was grad. at Harvard in 1827, and at Andover Theol. Sem., in 1830, settled at Townsend, Mass., 1830-5, and at Boston, Mass., over the Franklin St. Ch. which in 1841, became the Central Ch. Aug. 6. 1835, until his death at Dorchester, Mass. Aug. 11, 1851, having • Rev. Geo. Richards of New London, Ct., associated with him as a colleague, Oct. 8, 1845. He was a man of slight figure, deep voice, quick step, ready wit, and genial good will, andat the same time prompt and fearless in taking his position anywhere and every where as a man and a preacher. See for sketch of him Sprague's Annals Am. Pulpit, vol. ii, pp. 730-5, she d. at Dorchester, Jan. 26, 1848. She was distinguished for her attractive manners and excellent judgment.

25029-30. ii. Ellen Adelia Rogers b. at Leominster, Feb. 16, 1836, m. April 17, 1856, John McNamara Turpin b. April 17, 1829 (son of John Pray Turpin and Mary Bradford): engaged in the Post Office at Boston, Mass. He d. at Newton Centre, Mass., May 13, 1865; she d. Aug. 8, 1866, at Boston.

One child: 25031. 1. Bradford Strong Turpin b. at Boston, April 28, 1857.

25032. iii.. William Matticks Rogers (2d) b. at Boston, Oct. 27, 1838, grad. at Harvard in 1860. He was in the University of Heidelberg, Germany, and at the breaking out of the late rebellion, returned home and joined the Union army, Co. A, of the 18th Mass. Regt,, in which he became first Sergeant and afterwards Sergeant Major. He d. of malarious fever, Sabbath eve, June 29, 1862, at Savage Station, Va., during McClellan's retreat from the peninsula. He was a young man of fine talents, and of generous aims and purposes.

25033. iv. Samuel Strong Rogers b. at Dorchester, Jan. 8, 1848, d. at Brookline, Mass., Dec. 15, 1848.
