It has been reported that the AART ANTONIESE forefathers escaped from France in the year 1522. In a action filed 6 September 1638 at the High Court of Tuil, AERT ANTONIS DE FOCKERT is describeas as " machtig" , which translate to powerful, mighty, tremendous, and / or rich. ( Meijden, van der, V , Oude Geslachten Uit de Bommelerwaard en Aangrenzende Gebieden, " Gens Nostra, oct. 1969, pp 296- 302.) This same article is also the source for the information about Aert"s first family as well as giving the surname of Aert"s second wife.

Eerste eigenaar van het huis D,n Ouwe Wiel, vermoedelijk uit 1550. De naam is gegeven aan de boerderij omdat er achter de boerderij een Wiel ligt. Deze is ontstaan op 22 februari 1635 tijdens een zware dijkdoorbraak.
