About Agatha Fasching

GEDCOM Note

Per Frann Bonomo, who was Agata's granddaughter, Agata remained very Austrian to the day she died. She spoke broken English, wore a babushka, raised Franz Knopf's children, made their clothes. She was very old country. She hung laundry on lines outside and would not use a dryer. She lived to be 92. She went for her first airplane ride in 1965 to Florida.

1904 passenger list: Agata Fasching entered the US through Ellis Island on Feb 21 1904 sailing aboard the SS L Zouraine out of Havre on Feb 13 1904. She was 17, single, a servant, traveling from Deutsch-Schutzen to New York to her sister Scholastika Fasching, 236 W 11th, New York City. She traveled with 3 other young women from Nemet Lo: Agnes Schlaffer, 19, single, servant traveling to her friend Anna Weber % Mr y Burger; Agnes Taschler, 16, single, a servant, traveling to her sister Marie Taschler, 608 9th Ave, NY; Marie Pehr, 19, single, a servant, traveling to her friend Cecilia Knopf, 356 W 11th St, NY. As shown by the 1920 census and by the 1922 passenger record of her husband, John Andrew Windisch, Agata returned to Deutsch Schuetzen more than once after first entering the US.
