About Agatha Gornowicz
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=8749377
During the first winter in Dakota Territory, Agatha walked about one and one-half miles to visit her daughter, Victoria Czapiewski, who had married John Czapiewski, and her new granddaughter Katherine Czapiewski. It was Sunday, February 13, 1880. The day was warm and beautiful. After visiting, she started home. On her way, one of the sudden North Dakota blizzards came up, and she became lost. She died in what has been called the Blizzard of 1880. Agatha's body was not found until spring. She was found about three miles southwest of her home. Her funeral was the first one held in the Polish community. Agatha's body was buried in a cemetery on a farm, until 1883, when it was moved to the new cemetery at the new St. Stanislaus Church.
