About Agnes Ashby

Biography

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Illingworth-418

Agnes Illingworth was daughter of Richard Illingworth, Chief Baron of the Exchequeur. [1]

She married widower William Ashby, son of Thomas Ashby and his wife, Katherine Brett.[1] She was mother of his children, George, Sercole, Elizabeth and Ciceley. [1]

William is said to have died in 1427, while Agnes lived on for more than 60 years, passing away in 1492. [1]

Research note

While not impossible the dates given would make Agnes a very old lady when she died.

Comments

Husband of Agnes Illingworth. The Visitation pedigree has conflated him with his son, husband of Agnes Pulteney. The IPM (1500) shows the younger William as his son and heir. Assheby is the spelling in the primary sources (IPM, marriage settlements of his daughter Ann and relative George Assheby).
