Paternal grandparents, Sir Robert Douglas, Margaret Ershire, whho was mistress to King James V
Mary, Queen of Scots, was a prisoner at Lockleven Castle, from June 1567 to May 1568. She escaped with the aid from George Douglas, Agnes Uncle, and a cousin.
Mother, Agnes Leslie, was Queen Mary's closest female companion.
Father, William Douglas, 6th Earl of Morton, was Laird of Locklever Castle, and as such, was the custodian of Queen Mary,
Agnes Douglas was Catholic.
