Funeral services were conducted on Monday afternoon at St. Olaf Lutheran Church for Mrs. Agnes Ronning, 71, longtime Devils Lake resident who died on Thursday evening in Mercy Hospital. Rev. Edwin R. Schmidt officiated and interment was in the family plot in Big Coulee Lutheran Church cemetery near Churchs Ferry, ND. Paula Schmidt was organist and Jack Voiles, soloist. Active pallbearers were Jeffrey Ellingson, Leslie Ellingson, Mayo Liudahl, Lester Liudahl, Ole Ronning and Martin Ronning. The Gilbertson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Agnes Ellingson was born on 23 Aug 1904 in Norway Lake Township in Wells County, ND. She was the daughter of Anton and Agnette Tranby Ellingson. She was educated in Norway Lake township schools and on 24 Nov 1937 was married to Robert Ronning in Maddock. Following their marriage they farmed Mr. Ronning's farm west of Devils Lake until moving into Devils Lake in 1948 but continued the active operation of the farm until retiring in 1959. Mr. Ronning preceded her in death on 20 Apr 1964. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, the ALCW and the R. S. V. P. Survivors include three daughter, Mrs. Randall (Julie) Talbot of Upper Marlboro, MD, Mrs. Larry (Karen) Alm of Thornton, CO and Mrs. Ron (Roberta) Soper of Devils Lake; two brothers, Elmer Ellingson of Maddock and Ernest Ellingson of Heimdal; and three sisters, Mrs. Peter (Sylvia) Parsnick of Bismarck and Amanda and Alice Ellingson both of Minneapolis; four grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, four brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
