NEW PARIS -- Berniece Hoffer, 94, of Route 1, died at 2 p.m. Monday (Oct. 20, 2003) at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Milford. She was born Aug. 13, 1909, in Wakarusa to Moody and Ellen May (Hoover) Detwiler. She married Cloyce Hoffer July 5, 1930. He died in February 1992. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Janet) Bucholz of Warsaw and Joanne Foster of Watkinsville, Ga.; four sons, Keith (Carol) Hoffer of Atwood, A. Wayne (Martha) of Arizona, Devoe (Lumi) of New Paris and Devon (Fran) of Nappanee; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Clifford (Katie) Detwiler of Bristol; and a sister, Mrs. Delbert (Marie) Husband of Goshen. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home in Milford, where the service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Hoffer was a homemaker and a lifelong area resident.
