Agnethe Mekkelsen

Agnethe's name is engraved at the bottom of the stone. The surname they used was either Mikkelsen or Lokken; which was a farm name where Johannes had lived.

Agnethe was born 23 Nov, 1828 was baptized Dec 23, 1828 in Ringsaker, Norway. These dates are recorded in the church book in Ringsaker, Norway. At the age of 19, she married Johannes Mikkelsen Lokken on Nov 25, 1847. Several children were born to them; Mathea, Hans, Mathias, Maria, Johanne, Bernt, Karen, Johannes, and Anna. In 1882, Agnethe and Johannes arrived in America with 4 of their unmarried children, and Hans who was already married and had three children of his own. Destination was Rothsay, Minnesota. All of their children emigrated with the exception of Mathias.

Agnethe had many descendants in the Pelican Rapids area: Rolette, North Dakota: Polk County, Minnesota; Norway and Canada, whom now are scattered beyond that.
