About Aharon Papiermeister
Aharon Papiermeister was born in Russia, district of Matoy in the town of Telsin. He studied in the "Heder" and in yeshivot and later studied general subjects. He specialized in the brewing of beer, even medical beer, and invented new and improved ways of processing in order to improve the quality of the product.
In Vilna and later in Leida he was one of the first members of the Hovevei Zion movement and sent money to his brother in Eretz Israel so that he could buy a thousand dunams of land. From afar he participated in his brother's activities in Rishon Le Zion. In 1892 he came to the country with his large family, settled in Rishon Le Zion and became a vinter. His house, surrounded by a glade of palm and eucalyptus trees, became a cultural centre for the young people of Rishon Le Zion.
Lot was said of Aharon Papiermeister that he was the best vinter in the village and he was also involved in experiments in beer brewing. However, on account of a dispute with the Baron's officials who refused to allow his grapes into the winery and the failure of his industrials experiments brought him to financials difficults which made him to sell his lands.
