Alastair "Carrach" MacDonald

Alastair Carrach, who settled in Ireland, and had a son, Ranald Buy, who had a son, Alexander. This Alexander was knighted for his services against the Irish and Scots by the Earl of Sussex, in 1556, who, at the ceremony, presented him with a gold sword and a pair of silver spurs. He, at the same time, received from the Lord-Deputy a grant of the greater part of the Barony of Dunluce, with the Monastery of Glenarm and the lands belonging thereto.
