Albert Salsbury, Topeka, Kan., died Monday, May 24, 2004, at a local health care facility. He was 93.
He was born March 6, 1911, in Republic County, Kan., the son of John Sargent and Gertrude Moxham Salsbury.
He graduated from Burlington High School. He was employed in 1942 for the DeSoto Sunflower Ordnance Plant, in 1944 at the ammunition plant in Oak Ridge, Tenn., and in the early 50s at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He then laid floor covering and was a carpenter before he retired in 1983.
He was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
He married Marie Elizabeth Decker Aug. 9, 1939, in Burlington. She died Aug. 28, 1993.
He was also preceded in death by nine brothers.
Survivors include a daughter, Annabeth Roglitz and husband James; five sons and their wives, Charles Albert and Jacqueline, Gene Louis and Janis, Patrick Martin and Vicki, all of Topeka, Joseph Harry and Gloria, McCracken, Michael Morris and Lynn, Herington; 21 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
He will lie in state Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 28 at the funeral home with Rev. Frank Krische officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Burlington.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association and sent in care of the funeral home."
