Obituary The New York Times February 15, 1915 Seymour J. Hyde Dead - Cotton Converter Was Thrown From His Horse While Riding With Son Greenwich, Conn., Feb. 14 HYDE.--Seymour J. Hyde, a member of the New York cotton converter firm of Albert G. Hyde & Son, died at his country home in Field Point Park, Greenwich, at 3 o'clock this morning. He was 54 years old. His death followed a fall from his horse which he suffered on the Field Club's bridle path across from the Lauder estate in Greenwich two weeks ago. His skull was fractured, and his son, Seymour Worrall Hyde, who was riding with his father carried the injured man to the Field Club stables. He was taken from there to his home. Funeral services will be held in the Church of the Heavenly Rest in New York on Tuesday, and Mr. Hyde will be buried in Woodlawn Cemetery. Mr. Hyde was born in New York City. His father was Albert G. Hyde, who formed the firm of Hyde & Burton about thirty years ago. His widow, two sons, and three daughters survive him. He was one of the original members of Squandron A and a member of the Union League, New York Yacht, Merchants', Larchmont Yacht, Indian Harbor Yacht, Field of Greenwich and Greenwich Country Clubs. Mr Hyde had been thrown several times this season while following the hounds over the Field Club trails. He called on the police here and at Greenwich last May to protect him and his wife from the threats of a discharged employee, Joseph Deutsch. Deutsch, it was alleged, forced his way through the other employees at the Greenwich estate of Mr. Hyde, armed with a revolver, and threatened to kill his former employer. A guard was kept for several months at the home of the Hydes. After Deutsch's arrest he was released on bail and disappeared.

His Will The New York Times April 30, 1915 Seymour J. Hyde Left $1,960,000 Greenwich, Conn., April 29 The will of Seymour J. Hyde of the firm of A. C. Hyde & sons, New York cotton brokers, who died Feb. 24, was admitted to probate here today. The bulk of the estate, which is estimated at $1,960,000, goes to his widow. There are no public bequests.

6 Share $3,000,000 Estate The New York Times April 15, 1921 Trust Of Seymour J. Hyde Grows Much In Four Years Greenwich, Conn., April 14 Filing of the inventories and annual accounts in the trust created by the will of Seymour J. Hyde, in favor of his widow and five children, shows that the stocks, etc., in A. G. Hyde Sons, of New York, cotton manufacturers, which were sold, amounted to about $3,250,000, all invested in Liberty bonds. By the will, Mrs. Hyde and her children share equally in the estate. The residence owned by Mr. Hyde in Field Point Park was left to the widow during her life. The inventory filed in 1917 shows the total estate to be $2,189, 435. Since that time investments and interest have increased the estate.
