Albert W. P. Kopetz

Albert W. P. Kopetz, 95, of Decatur, IL passed into eternity on Monday, June 11, 2012, at Eastview Terrace Nursing Home in Sullivan, IL.

Home going services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, with Pastor William K. Abbott officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois SC Charitable Fund.

Albert was born February 9, 1917 in Decatur, IL, the son of William and Mary (Leipski) Kopetz. He married Juanita (Scheef) Wayne on September 11, 1948 in Decatur.

Albert retired from A. E. Staley Mfg. Co. as an electrician, after 45 years of service. Albert was a Veteran of WWII and the Korean War serving as a medical technician. He leaves to cherish his loving memory adopted daughter by heart and love, Jeanette (Alfred) Hawkins Sr., brothers, Robert W. Kopetz and Walter H. J. Kopetz, both of Decatur and grandchildren; Sharon (James) Fallon of Gilbert, AZ, Crystal (Ricky) Micou of Suffolk, VA, Toni (Todd) Austin of Paradise Valley, AZ, Christie (Rodney) Johnson of Raeford, NC and Angela (Kevin) McClelland of Gilbert, AZ. There are also nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita W. Kopetz, his parents, William and Mary Kopetz, sisters; Helen Bart and Hilda Williamson, and brothers; Carl, George, Arnold and Harold.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Eastview Terrance Nursing Home for providing such wonderful care and making Albert feel so special during his stay at Eastview. Much appreciation also, to the Pastors and members of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Albert was a loving husband, a good brother and the best grandfather ever.
