  • Died 20 September 1527 in Niepołomice
  • Father Sigismund I the Old
  • Mother Bona Sforza Albert (born and died. 20 September 1527 in Niepołomice ) - Polish Prince and Duke of Lithuania, the younger son of Sigismund I and Bona Sforza . He was the last legitimate child born in the dynasty of the Jagiellonian [1] . Albert was the second son, and also the sixth and youngest child of Sigismund I , king of Polish and Lithuanian Grand Duke, and his second wife, Bona Sforza , Princess of Milan. He received the name of Albert [2] (polonized form of the name Albert ), presumably in honor of his uncle - the Polish King John I Albert . Some studies report that the prince received the names of Olbracht (Albert) Wojciech [3] . The emergence of the first name may be caused misconceive Albertus of Adelbert, Hungarian, Latvian and English translation of the name Wojciech [4] . Circumstances of birth and death of the prince were described by the chronicler Marcin Bielski : From Krakow to Niepołomice king went to Queen Bona and his court with all the slapstick, where there was the custom of the great bear, which arrived from Lithuania in the chest. When it was released in a grove near the Vistula River, it poszczuwano first big dogs, which he broke a hundred, defeated and wounded, the peasants were the spears of three hundred. [...] He released it later, where the queen was, who, fleeing before him, the horse stumbled under her, fell and offended, because I was pregnant [5] . Shortly after the accident the queen gave birth to a son who died the same day. Albert was buried in Niepołomice. At the request of Queen Bona, Albert remains were exhumed and placed in the crypt of Wawel in the year 1548, during the funeral of Sigismund I.

Z listu (rok 1791) Tadeusza Czackiego Starosty Nowogr. Kom. Skar. Kor. To wynalezienie doda jeden przypis w genealogii i historii Zygmunta I." >> Zbigniew Święch: " KLĄTWY, MIKROBY I UCZENI - OPOWIEŚĆ WAWELSKA - TOM I - W CISZY OTWIERANYCH GROBÓW " Państwowe Wydawnictwo "Iskry", Warszawa 1988, wyd.
