Alex T Clark was raised with the Clark family at Hoopers Inlet near Dunedin. He met Janet Muir in Clinton about 1900 while driving horse teams in the area. They were married in 1902. Worked as a lighthouse keeper for a number of years and was a partner with his brother Hugh in a butchery business in Portobello until 1917. He then took his family to Christchurch where they bought a farm on Lake Terrace road in Burwood. He and Janet had 5 children, four of whom survived to adulthood. Alex died in Christchurch in 1922 at the age of 49. He is buried in the Anglican Church graveyard on New Brighton Road in Burwood, Christchurch.
