About Alexander Anderson, Resident of Pittenweem in Fife

ALEXANDER ANDERSON

Spurious Pedigree

Alexander Anderson, here treated, is identified as the son of John Anderson and his first wife Susanna Hamilton in at least nine pedigrees published by My Heritage, where he is said to have been born at Pittenweem in Fife in 1678, although no proof is offerred. My Heritage It should be noted, however, that John Anderson has no known connection with Burgh of Pittenweem. Neither is there any evidence of him having had a son named Alexander who was born there in 1678, or anywhere else in the same year. Moreover, John Anderson had no sons to succeed him and his heritable property passed to two of his daughters. Dr. John Moore, 1729–1802: A Life in Medicine etc., page 9
