Alexander Bremner was born in the Red River Settlement, Manitoba in 1832, the son of Alexander Bremner and Elizabeth (Bremner) Twat). Sibling to William, Charles and James. He married Victoria Fidler and they had at least 4 children during the years 1864 to 1868: Alexandre, Maria, Jemima and Elizabeth. He was Metis and is registered on government records as a Protestant. The attended St. James Parish, perhaps at Headingly. One Alexander Bremner is noted to have patented two parcels of land. The first in 1875 near Headingly, describedas Lot 41, Area 8, Claimed 88. The second in 1882, near Headingly, descibed as Lot 43, Are 72, Claimed 72.
