Information from Elizabeth Corrie (nee Dawson), wife of the late Alexander Brice Corrie Master Marina, in the form of letters, states that Alexander Brice Corrie born at Gordieston 1807 and was looked after by his grandparents Alexander Brice and Martha Brice (nee Anderson), at Lochenhead in Dumfriesshire This was two weeks after he was born, his mother Sarah Corrie ( nee Brice), died approx two weeks after his birth due to complications. When he was sixteen he went to live with his mother's brother Joseph Brice who was a Corn merchant in liverpool, Lancashire, England. Martha Brice was the sister to Robert Anderson Esq of Stroquhan/Straquhan House. This was why Joseph Brice was pursuing moneys from Robert Anderson Esq, his uncle as Joseph's mother Martha gave her brother up to an amount of £22,000. The name Martha was also the name Alexander Brice Corrie gave to his eldest daughter after his grandmother.
