Chelan - A. C. (Chet) Hinton, 70, Chelan, a long-time Mallot orchardist, died in a Chelan hospital Saturday following an extended illness.
Born in Prineville, Ore., Aug. 16, 1894, he homesteaded in the Big Bend with his parents when a child. He married Winifred McClure April 7, 1913, at Waterville and they later made their home at Mallot where he operated an orchard for 36 years. Since 1946 he resided in Chelan.
He was a member of the Methodist Church; a past member of Mallot Grange 948; a member of Chelan Valley Lodge 118, F&AM Wenatchee chapter 22, Royal Arch Masons, Columbia Commandery 14, Knights Templar, El Katif Shrine and the Lake Chelan Shrine Club; Wenatchee Lodge 1168, BPOE; a life member of the Lake Chelan Gun Club; and a member of the Chelan Golf and Country Club.
Surviving are his widow; one son, Jack W. Hinton, Vancouver; a brother, Frank Hinton, Entiat; a sister, Mrs. Mable Ellison, Chelan; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
