    • "Ski Resort Developer. He was the founder and chairman of Squaw Valley Ski Resort, regarded as one of America's best known and popular skiing destinations. A graduate of Harvard Law School and a former member of the Justice Department, he opened the resort to the public in 1949.
    • "He was recognized as a leader and innovator in ski industry, establishing standards in the creation of dining, shopping and lodging facilities and in the development of advanced ski lift systems. His resort became a haven for the rich and famous, attracting prominent political and Hollywood celebrities including Gene Kelly, Bing Crosby and Sophia Loren. He was instrumental in bringing the 1960 Winter Olympics to Squaw Valley, California and was credited with popularizing the sport with middle-class families.
    • "He appeared on the cover of "Time" magazine in 1959 after beating out the internationally famed resorts of Innsbruck, Austria and St. Moritz, Switzerland for the right to host the VIII Winter Olympic Games. The 1960 Winter Games were the first to be televised reaching an estimated ten million viewers, resulting in international exposure, development and tourism to the Lake Tahoe region. He was inducted into Ski Industry Hall of Fame in 1999.
