He was 4th and youngest son of James Gordon of Letterfourie, by Glicerie, daughter of Sir William Dunbar, 1st Baronet [S 1698], of Durn...

...He was born 1715; was in the rising of 1745, soon after which he joined his brother, James Gordon, a wine merchant in Madeira. On 12 July 1791 he was served heir general of his father and of his said brother. He married 1778, Helen, daughter of Alexander Russell, of Moncoffer, co Banff. He died 16 January 1797, in his 83rd year."
