About Alexander Patterson Harvey
Alexander Patterson Harvey (Harvie) was born in Maybole, South Ayrshire, Scotland on 16 February 1884. He was the son of John Harvie and Sarah Paton Harvie (nee Niven) who married in Dundonald, Ayrshire, Scotland on 6 June 1873. Alexander and brother Hugh Patterson Harvey (Harvie) emigrated to New Zealand on board the Ionic, arriving on 10 August 1910. In New Zealand he worked as a teamster before enlisting to serve during World War I on 26 January 1917. He embarked for Europe on 26 April 1917. Alexander was killed in action at Le Cateau-Cambresis in France on 8 October 1918. He was buried in the Naves Communal Cemetery Extension.
