ALEXANDER LINDSAY OF DUNROD

Alexander Lindsay of Dunrod is the son of Sir John Lindsay of Dunrod. He was served heir to his deceased father in the lands and barony of Kilbride, on 17 April 1602 Inquisitionum II: 35 and in the ten pound land of Dunrod on 27 April 1602 .Inquisitionum II: 12 On 6 January 1607 he was served heir to his father in the lands of Easter and Wester Nerston and others Inquisitionum II: 69 and on the same date he was served heir to his deceased paternal uncle, Robert Lindsay of Dunrod, in the lands of Thornton called Peill. The Slaughter of Alexander Leckie of that Ilk in September 1601

Alexander Lindsay of Dunrod murdered Alexander Leckie, 10th. of that Ilk

King James Vi., by a letter dated from Greenwich, 1st june 1622, granted a respite for the trial of the accussed persons till 5th of October following; and by a second letter from Windsor, on 7th Aufust 1622, ordered the Justice and the Justice-Clerk not to proceed in the criminal prosecution till they understood from the Council that they had given up all further dealing in the matter. 22 April 1619: Charter by which Janes VI, King of Scots, confirms that he has granted anew the ten pound lands of old extent of Dunrod to Archibald Stewart of Ardgowan. The lands of Dunrod were previously held by Alexander Lindsay of Dunrod , who resigned them with the consent of his wife Margaret Maxwell and Sir James Maxwell of Calderwood: "quas Alex. Lindesay de Dunrod cum consensu Margarete Maxwell sponse sue et D. Jacobi Maxwell de Calderwod militis resignavit." Registrom Magnii Sigilli Regum Scotorum. Letter from the Earl of Mar to the Clerk of Council: "Good Jaems, Theis ar ernistly to desyr you hest thir other letters (quilk this berar will delyvir unto you) To my Lord of Hadinton that they may be sentt to my soone att courtt. Thus I rest, Your trew feind. (signed) Mar. I have villed this berar to get sum letters from you to charge Dunrod [Note] for not fulfilling the counsalls ordinanss; the particulars I remitt to him, bott I pray you give him outt the letters [addressed] To my good freind Jaems Prymross, Clerk of the Pevie Counsall." 11 February 1634: Supplication for protection by Alexander Lindsay of Dunrod that he may satisfy his creditors. Supplication by Alexander Lindsay as follows: - He entrusted William Wallace of Johnestoun, his sister's son. with his estate and living for the payment of his debts, "hes dealt verie unhonestlie with the supplicant and tane assignatiouns to the debts quhilkis he hes payed, alledging that he is superexpended." This is to the supplicants great prejudice and the frustration of his creditors satisfaction, but he dare not come to Edinburgh for prosecution of the said William without their Lordships warrant, which accordingly he craves.
