Alexander of the Halls of Airth was a witness to the sasine (Mar. 25, 1600), at the Castle of Callendar, of James the 6th's charter of the Barony of Callendar to Alexander, 7th Lord of Livingston, soon to be created Earl of Linlithgow. His name also occurs as that of a witness to various family charters among the Westquarter writs between the years 1592-1600, inclusive.

He also owned some lands in the town of Falkirk, and so is sometimes described as 'portioner of Falkirk.' According to the parish registers of Falkirk he married Marion Bryson.
